Enis, roman kahramanı Fıtnat'ın çift karakterli yapısı ve yaşamı boyunca iç çatışmaları içerisine gizlemiş olduğu ruh halinde; Fıtnat'ın çatışmalı karakterlerinden birisine bürünerek dönemin sosyal ve siyasal eleştirisini yapmaktadır.
